Diving into the Water

I have plunged into the water. I have fully immersed myself in the pool of photography, and it feels great.

I’ve been shooting with a nice Canon Powershot SX260 HS for the past year, and it has not disappointed me. The quality is great, especially considering its tiny body and seemingly limited lens. I’ve been happy with it, but recently I’ve realized I wanted something more. I wanted a camera with more features I could play around with, and I wanted to take my photography to a higher level.

For the past couple of months, I’ve been researching to find a DSLR I can learn and grow with, one that I could experiment with and have fun with. After narrowing down the poop ton of options I made for myself, I ended up settling on the Canon EOS Rebel T6. Small build for my small hands, awesome quality, great price, and all the features I need to begin! I received it last week as an amazing birthday present from my parents (Thanks mom and Bab, shout out to you) and I can tell you one thing – it was worth it, and I’m happy with the way it is working.

My bro took me to the city last week (the day after I got my camera) to celebrate my birthday, and he thought it’d make an awesome place to try it out. I took way too many pictures because I was like wooahhh this quality is amazing. I left the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO on auto for the duration of the trip because I wanted to take it to somewhere more calm to try it out before I messed everything up. I thought the city wasn’t a great place to start because I’d probably get trampled if I stood in the middle of the street attempting to adjust the settings like a fool. I am going to be posting lots of my New York pictures throughout the weeks to come, but I wanted to share a couple with y’all on this post. Here are some shots:

Can’t wait to share more with y’all, and I’m excited to learn and grow as I delve deeper into photography.

The City is so pretty. Have you been there?
